About Us

Rotary Club Of Madurai
NorthWest

The Rotary Club of Madurai NorthWest has been a beacon of service and community engagement since its establishment in 1984. Officially chartered on June 28, 1985, our club was founded through the visionary leadership of our first President, Rtn. Dhanushkodi Pandiyan, and our chartered secretary, PDG Purushothaman. We owe our inception to the generous sponsorship and unwavering guidance of the Rotary Club of Madurai West, which played an instrumental role in shaping our early years.

Our journey has been marked by a steadfast commitment to fostering fellowship and collaboration among members, creating a strong sense of camaraderie that fuels our mission. As we build on the legacy of our founding members, we continue to seek innovative ways to address the evolving needs of our community. Whether through local initiatives or partnerships with global Rotary networks, we strive to create lasting, positive change.

We warmly invite individuals who share our passion for service and community upliftment to join us. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one project at a time, while upholding the values that have defined the Rotary Club of Madurai NorthWest for over four decades.

Community Growth, Project by Project

Completed Projects

First Project – Global Grand Project (HHH)

Our journey began with the Global Grand Project (HHH), focusing on Health, Hygiene, and Hunger. We initiated several impactful initiatives, including children’s nutrition programs to combat malnutrition, hygiene drives to clean public spaces in Madurai, and efforts to increase milk production through the Jersey Grow initiative from 2000 to 2002. These projects laid a strong foundation for our commitment to community development and well-being.

Second Project – Nursery School Children

The Rotary Club’s “Second Project – Nursery School Children Inspection & Curing of Deficiency in Speech” was a groundbreaking initiative carried out from 2012 to 2013. Focused on identifying and addressing speech deficiencies among nursery school children, this project aimed to provide early intervention to improve their communication skills and overall development. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Sourirajan from Madurai, comprehensive inspections were conducted, and individualized treatment plans were created for each child. By offering this crucial support, the Rotary Club endeavoured to enhance the educational and social experiences of these young learners, setting a strong foundation for their future success.

Signature Project 1 – District Level Athletic Meet

The Rotary Club’s “Signature Project 1 – District Level Athletic Meet” has been a cornerstone event for over three decades, held annually at the Reserve Time Stadium in Madurai. This prestigious athletic meet brings together around 1,800 school children aged 10 to 16 from across the district, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition. The event provides young athletes with a platform to showcase their talents, build confidence, and cultivate a lifelong love for sports. Through this enduring initiative, the Rotary Club is dedicated to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and community engagement among the youth, contributing to their holistic development.

Signature Project 2 – Diwali Celebration at Orphanage Sehwag Ashram

For the past 15 years, the Rotary Club’s “Signature Project 2 – Diwali Celebration at Orphanage Sehwag Ashram” has brought joy and festive cheer to the girls at Mahatma Gandhi Nagar. Every year, this heartfelt initiative ensures that each child experiences the warmth and happiness of Diwali. The celebration includes providing delicious food, new clothes, essential study materials, and festive crackers for every child. By lighting up their lives during this auspicious festival, the Rotary Club not only spreads joy but also reinforces a sense of belonging and community, making Diwali a truly memorable and cherished event for the girls at Sehwag Ashram.

Study Center Project – UPSC Group Examination Aspiration at Mangayarkarasi School Campus

The Rotary Club’s “Study Center Project – UPSC Group Examination Aspiration” at Mangayarkarasi School Campus was launched in 2022-2023 to support students aspiring to excel in UPSC Group Examinations. This dedicated project offers daily training sessions and classes, ensuring that every interested student receives the necessary guidance and resources to succeed. By creating an environment focused on rigorous preparation and academic excellence, the study centre empowers students to achieve their highest potential, setting them on a path toward distinguished careers in public service.

Renovation at Government School Project – Pulipatti Azhagar Kovil

The Rotary Club’s “Renovation at Government School Project – Pulipatti Azhagar Kovil” has made a substantial impact on the educational infrastructure and student encouragement. This project involved the construction of a new study block worth 20 lakh rupees and the addition of toilet facilities worth 10 lakh rupees. These improvements aim to create a conducive learning environment for students in classes 5 to 10, encouraging them to attend regularly and perform well in their final examinations. By investing in these essential facilities, the Rotary Club is committed to enhancing the quality of education and promoting academic excellence among students in the Pulipatti Azhagar Kovil area.
